A MAN FROM Melbourne, Australia was accused of ‘creeping’ on children at a local shopping centre – but he was just taking a Star Wars selfie.

A local mother posted a picture of the man on Facebook last week, accusing him of taking photos of her children without her consent:

Centre management were straight onto it and so were the police, hopefully he is caught. Police said if he is a registered sex offender he will be charged. This happened at Knox, be safe with your kids.

After the warning went viral, the man himself came forward – he said he wasn’t ‘creeping’, just trying to take a selfie with a Darth Vader ‘May the Fourth be with you’ store display.

He told the Knox Leader:

I’m a father of three kids and a normal human being… I’ve never taken a selfie before. I was in two minds whether to take the selfie, but I thought it’ll be a good daggy [Australian slang for 'uncool'] dad joke.

The Knox Leader reports that the woman has since apologised for jumping to conclusions, saying the “biggest lesson” she learned was not to post hurtful things about other people online.

The man has said he had no intention of pressing charges against the woman.
